What started as a breakfast meeting with four independent brokers in the fall of 1993, sharing common needs, concerns and problems, has blossomed into a 100 plus member organization with one goal:

To support and promote the independent real estate broker in the Houston marketplace.

Concerns from large firm competition to advertising and marketing to legal issues are just a few of the challenges independent brokers face each day.

Why join a group since the original idea was to be on one's own? Quite simply, in the fast-paced world of technologies and legislative changes, it is difficult to stay abreast of all the information that is bombarding the real estate industry. The Houston Independent Real Estate Brokers Association gives the independent broker the opportunity to be on his or her own, but not be alone.

The Association is designed as a network group to share ideas, technology, updates and marketing. This allows members to share new listings and inquire about upcoming listings. For homeowners, this is a distinct advantage; one hundred plus companies learn about their property before others are even aware it is for sale. In addition, buyers may be apprised of properties in the market place before competing buyers.
