What Are The Odds?
Did you ever wonder how easy it will be to find
a home you like? Or, more simply, how many turkeys will you have to look at
before you find a swan? The fact is, you don't have to look "inside"
at dozens and dozens of homes.
The rule of thumb is that people usually find
about 1 or 2 homes out of 6 that hold their interest. The rest get eliminated
for various reasons, mostly because they are either poorly maintained, not
updated, have an unworkable floor plan, are overpriced or all of the above.
But, these statistics only apply AFTER you have
chosen a neighborhood you like, a price range in which you are comfortable and
a realistic set of "must haves". Ask your Realtor to provide you a
list of "possibles" in the area and price range you are considering.
Then you can narrow down the field with a quick drive-by.
Realistic planning and pre-screening on your
part makes looking "inside" easier and more fun. So, get the odds in
your favor. Do your homework in advance and eliminate the turkeys on the front
end. Then hook up with your Realtor and go out to capture that swan.
